as you can see the listing of chrome-browser in favourites action starts with 'playmedia' is this whats affecting playback?

Before i go into a rube-goldberg solution with EventGhost to correct this, i was hoping the community at large has experienced this, or something similar, and may have some advice on other methods to try.

This probleme is due to the fact that your duplicate version of Advanced Launcher have really similar name and XBMC, since Frodo release, is not anymore able to make difference between each duplicate version. The only way to solve it, is to use actually the GIT version of Advanced Launcher that include launchers categories support... After this version there will be no need to use duplicate version of Advanced Launcher anymore.

What do you mean? I do not really understand. Advanced Launcher context menu is Advanced Launcher dedicated menu... and has nothing related to XBOX 360 ...?
