I'm running zsnes on windows 7 32. Games launch fine, but I have 2 problems. The first is I'm using xbox360 wireless controller with event ghost running it. When I launch a title xbmc goes into the background and tho the controller works for znes, it is still working in xbmc. Is there a way to tell the program to kill xbmc then relaunch it after I esc? The other problem is when I do hit the esc key XBM stays minimized and all I see is the windows background. Am I doing something wrong?

Hey angelscry. Is it possible to have 2 instances of the launcher somehow? I want to launch programs but one to be ala and the other one program launcher so they don't mix up, that way I can fire my browser or anything else from xbmc.

ATM using executor for the programs but it pales in comparision to ALA Big Grin

Angelscry Wrote:This is the configuration setup of Advanced Launcher for Nestopia and ZSNES in Windows.

Ok.. So I followed the info for Nestopia except for where it was stored on my computer. For some reason when I put the folder in the c drive nestopia wouldn't create a .xml.

When I click on a NES game in XBMC I get the error " File not found" in Nestopia.

If I get rid of the argument I don't get an error, but it won't load a game.

A side note. The wiki links you posted to Zsnes directs you to Nestopia wiki.

Angelscry Wrote:Thank you for the feedback. I will try to reproduce this error and try to fix it. Actually the command line support for windows is unfortunately not 100% functional. Could you tell me what is a smallest LEGO game (in size) you have problem with?

LEGO Batman and Indianer Jones are both 4.2gb and i got this error on 2 systems, both running win7 64bit, very strange. LEGO Starwars Trilogy is working Wink

dunno if it helps
but this is the command line my hypersin apk uses to lunch snes roms:

;***********************Super Nintendo Entertainment System*********************

else if (systemName = "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" && executable = "zsnesw.exe")
{
hideDesktop()
SetKeyDelay, 250
Hotkey, %exitEmulatorKey%, CloseProcess
RunWait, %Executable% "%romPath%%romName%%romExtension%", %EmuPath%

Hopefully that link worked for you Angelscry, also I have to ask; can games be scraped if they are each in their own subfolder within an overarching folder ie: games > game 1 folder, game 2 folder.. etc?

Steveb Wrote:Then a arg for hiscores and samples etc... will work, but the arg line ends up as long as my arm and not very user friendly Smile

<args>-skip_gameinfo -nowindow -inipath "F:\Emulators\Mame" -cfg_directory "F:\Emulators\Mame\cfg" -hiscore_directory "F:\Emulators\Mame\hi" -samplepath "F:\Emulators\Mame\samples" "%rom%"</args>

this works Smile

No arg for the hiscore.dat file so that still has to be in the root XBMC install dir..lol
Here is a discussion about the use -hiscore_directory and -hiscore_file arguments for xmame. Maybe it also works for standard mame version.

nekoarashi Wrote:wow- I keep trying to upload the files, mediafile,filefront, megaupload error error error -

Here you go Angelscry: http://rapidshare.com/files/440031033/launchers.rar
Here is the part of your launchers.xml file:
Code:
        <name>mame</name>
        <application>C:\Games\Emulation\MAME\mameuifx32.exe</application>
        <args></args>
        <rompath>C:\Games\Emulation\ROMs\</rompath>
        <thumbpath>C:\Games\Emulation\Thumbnails\</thumbpath>
        <fanartpath>C:\Games\Emulation\Fanart\</fanartpath>
        <romext>zip</romext>
        <platform>Super Nintendo Entertainment System</platform>
        <thumb></thumb>
        <fanart></fanart>
        <genre></genre>
        <release></release>
        <publisher></publisher>
        <launcherplot></launcherplot>
        <wait>true</wait>
Code:
<args></args>
The <args> tag is empty. If you used the last version of Advanced Launcher it will not works. The args tage has to be :
Code:
<args>"%rom%"</args>
Code:
<platform>Super Nintendo Entertainment System</platform>
The <platform> tag is set to Super Nintendo Entertainment System. So the scrapers will search for SNES games. For MAME the plateform tag has to be :
Code:
<platform>Arcade</platform>
To fix this:
  • Go to the context menu of your MAME launcher
  • Select "Edit Launcher" option
  • Select "'Modify Arguments"
  • Enter "%rom%" value (with the double quotes).
Then :
  • Go again to the context menu of your MAME launcher
  • Select "Edit Launcher" option
  • Select "'Modify Datas/Infos"
  • Select "'Modify Game System"
  • Select "'Arcade"
Then
[*]Go again to the context menu of your MAME launcher
[*]Select "Edit Launcher" option
[*]Select "Clear Roms List" option and confirm
Now, you can scan again the directory, and MAMEworld scrapers will be able to identify your roms.

Thanks for your help, but the xmame solution didn't work with the old command line ver of mame (my fav on windows) Smile No probs, just a small work around, maybe time to give mame32/ui a go Wink

htpc guy Wrote:I'm trying out Nestopia on my Windows 7(x64) system. I edited the nestopia.xml file with the modifications listed in the wiki.

This command does not work (does nothing):
Code:
<exit>Echap</exit>

Then when I go back into nestopia.xml it lists the command as:
Code:
<exit>...</exit>

Changed it to this and it works.
Code:
<exit>Esc</exit>
It's strange, for me it is the opposite. ESC is doing nothing and Echap is working. I'm using the same Windows version as you. Seems that if is related to the language version of Nestopia. Echap if the french translation of ESC. I will fix the wiki page. Thank you for your feedback.

htpc guy Wrote:Now when I press esc I get a dialog asking if I want to quit. Is there a way around this? I don't want to have to get the keyboard/mouse out to close the box.
Into Option/Preferences menu you need to unchek the "Confirm Exit" box. The corresponding line to the nestopia.xml file is :
Code:
<confirm-exit>no</confirm-exit>
I will complete the wiki page with this new configuration need.

htpc guy Wrote:Now, the previous comments are concerned with running nestopia from outside of ALA. When I launch nestopia from within ALA I get an error that pops up saying "Can't Start! Direct3D is busy!

The only way I can get it to launch is if I press "\" to put XBMC into windowed mode. Again, this means I have to pull out the keyboard/mouse to use the emulator.
This one is a problem with XMBC settings. You need to go to the XBMC "Settings" menu, then "System menu" and here activate the "Use a Fullscreen Window Ratherthan true fullscreen" option. I will also complete the wiki page.

Again ,thank you for your feedback. It will help me to complete the wiki page and will help the other users (and you also). Wink

ijourneaux Wrote:I am using Launcher to launch BeyondTV from XBMC. This works well if BeyondTV is not running.

If BeyondTV is running (in the background), Launcher just goes back to XBMC.

Is it possible for Launcher to bring the background application to the front if the application is already running?
Ok... I am not actually familiar with BeyondTV. So, you mean that when you start Beyond TV from the launcher it goes directly into background and the launcher go back to XBMC? Do you want BeyondTV to always stay in front or do you want it to stay in background for a while and call it back in front, when you want, using the launcher?

Steveb Wrote:Worked fine before 0.9.1, never mind, forget it!
Yes it works, but it with the right manner. If you start MAME using only the command line you will need to indicate the right paths. If you start MAME by double clicking on it, you will not need to indicate those paths. Previous version was working like the second manner, but was not right manner for a command line support. The new version of the Advanced Launcher is using a method more closer to the command line support. For MAME it has a negative effect, because you need to indicate all the path (but it still working) For other emulators, like Project64, it has a positive effects because now the emulators are working.

You need to activate the "Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen" option into the Settings / System menu of XBMC. For sure it will solve your problem of XBMC to stays minimized, and maybe also fix your problem with the controllers.

Yes you can do it. But it will be more a hack of the Advanced Lanucher than a real functionnality. The idea is to install a second time Advanced Launcher on XBMC but with a different name.
  • Manually download the last version of Advanced Launcher here.
  • Extract the zip file.
  • Rename "plugin.program.advanced.launcher" directory name to "plugin.program.advanced.launcher2" for example
  • Into this directory, edit addon.xml file and replace
    Code:
    <addon id="plugin.program.advanced.launcher" name="Advanced Launcher"
    by
    Code:
    <addon id="plugin.program.advanced.launcher2" name="Advanced Launcher2"
  • Then Into this directory edit /ressources/lib/launcher_plugin.py file and replace
    Code:
    PLUGIN_DATA_PATH = xbmc.translatePath( os.path.join( "special://profile/addon_data", "plugin.program.advanced.launcher") )

        __settings__ = Addon( id="plugin.program.advanced.launcher" )
    by
    Code:
    PLUGIN_DATA_PATH = xbmc.translatePath( os.path.join( "special://profile/addon_data", "plugin.program.advanced.launcher2") )

        __settings__ = Addon( id="plugin.program.advanced.launcher2" )
  • Finally copy the "plugin.program.advanced.launcher2" directory into the XBMC/addons directory.
You will now be able to use 2 versions (or more) of the Advanced Launcher add-on at the same time into XBMC but with different content. The only limitation is that the additionally installed version of Advanced Launcher will not be automatically updated (because we made a manual install).
