htpc guy Wrote:So the fanart will be held in the skin folder? You mention that the images can be changed like an extrafanart slideshow so the box will hold a selection of changing images. Can you give us the exact folder structure? Will each rom/pc game launcher need its own folder? This will be great for various screenshots, especially for older consoles since full screenshots of NES and SNES roms look terrible. I would suggest, in that case using images of the console or some other type of image as the background.

I will start working on studio logos tonight. Who is the person I would need to contact to see if the RCB guys want to get in on this. It would be great if we could make this a community effort.

Also, before I start I would like some input from everyone. Should I go with a monochromatic color scheme for the flags so they will look good in any skin (If someone wants to add this feature to other skins) or should I use the original logo's color.

Secondly, I assume that all of the logos height will be the same right? What size do these need to be?

At time i can't say how the folder structure will look for the slideshow because i have to work on it.

But for a single image (different one as the fanart) the folder structure will look like this:

... xbmc\addons\skin.cirrus\extras\games\exactname.jpg

So i suggest for old games, to grab (google search) a nice wallpaper for the game system as fanart and a game screenshot maybe for the picture in the box.

could be similar to this:

Image

Studio Logos are 161x109

I think they should be monochrom to fit the best for every skin. We already have much colors in Fanart, Thumb and Box so monochrom would be a great contrast.

Studio logos are located in:
...xbmc\addons\skin.cirrus\media\flagging\exactname of publisher.png

I used the search but didnt get what i wanted. In Aeon there is a setting to rename the Programs menu to Games and to connect that to the regular launcher. How do i get it to start advanced launcher automatically?

Set Advanced Launcher as Favourite, rename it to Games, put it on home menu.

This is more of a XBMC/General question or Skin-specific, but I'll answer it here:
Most new skins let you add your own menu items. Aeon65 does this with Favorites. Go to your programs and set ALA as your Favorite, then go to settings and add that favorite to your menu. Rename it to Games.

Opening Games should now launch ALA directly instead of going through your Programs directory.

Is there a way to nest individual apps in directories similar to Roms? Right now I've got DEFCON, Quest for Glory, and NES. DEFCON launches DEFCON, Quest for Glory ditto, and NES opens my NES roms. Can I make a directory called Windows Games (or something) and put DEFCON and QFG in there?

I'm planning on adding more games to the launcher screen and I'd rather keep it clean like that, at least on the root level.

How did you implement the studio logos? AFAIK ALA does not expose more than fanart and thumbs to XBMC

ALA give the studio name value (for example capcom) and the skin display the corresponding image (capcom.png) as logo.

Hi Angelscry,

Is Project64 broken in the latest version? I tried to get it to run but neither 1.6 or 1.7 would work.

In any case, 1964 works like a charm (and I'll post it to the wiki as soon as I'm done here).

I have another feature request as a result of my toils: An option to make all scrapers semi-automatic. I came across a number of my ROMs that were mislabelled by the scraper, and there's presently no means of telling the correct name from within ALA. Heck, I don't even use an automatic scraper for my movies. If ALA could prompt before it scraped for info that'd be super. Something like this?

<Filename.extension>
*Best Match 1
*Best Match 2
...
...
*Best Match 10

Note that this is different than non-automatic. After I pick my Best Match for the first ROM, ALA should scrape it and give me a list for the 2nd ROM automatically. Non-automatic is just too cumbersome to go through the context menu over and over again.

What do you think?

I have started a new thread geared towards crating studio icons. I just want to throw out a quick mention for it but I don't want to clog up this thread. Please post and studio/flag requests over here

I have again modified the windows application launching script (to bring back the wait state option). But it is possible that it has affected the way to start Project64. I'm trying to found a universal way to start all the emulators under windows... but it is not easy. I will try to see this week-end what I can do for this. Sorry...

Yes, it could be possible. I will have to see how I could implement this. I think I could replace into the ALA settings all the scapers scan option (automatic or not) by a scrapping method selection (manual, semi-automatic, or automatic). I will add this to my todo list. Wink

I have tested, on my Windows 7 system, Project64 with last version of ALA and all is working great using this configuration : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=Project64#Windows

Have you take care to "Select the roms directory path into File/Choose Rom Directory... menu" into the Project64 GUI?
