Must say, great work butch...

Pulled an all night zombie modding and added Showcase View, Studio Flags in some views, Studio and Year tag and some other options in other views. Think now I'm done modding views to work with AVL.

Enjoy

fr500 Wrote:Is the article sorting configurable (The, A) I don't like it, it should respect XBMC's global setting for this.
If you go into a video store, all the movies starting by "The ..." are not stored into the "T" section. It is the same for books and video games. It's the most common way to alphanumerically sort titles. It is not because XBMC is not natively able to sort item like that, that I will not do it for the Advanced Launcher. I will add an option into the next version to disable this option.

fr500 Wrote:You don't need external tools at all, they add complexity and you'd need to learn a scripting language. sh on linux and batch files (or powershell scripts) on windows can do almost anything.
Advantage of using AutoIt script is that you will not have to deal with the ugly DOS windows. It will not appear at all. Learning linux/windows bath scripting or learning AutoIt scripting you will need to learn something... and I do not thing that your windows bath script is more short and comprehensible than the AutoIt one. Wink

Well XBMC has that sorting by default, but it has an option to disable it, it's on Settings -> Appearance -> File Lists -> Ignore Articles when sorting. So if possible I think you should use the built in option.

About the script....well yes my batch file is not clear but it does work and is one less thing to do maintenance, I will clean it up eventually :p

Sorry for the stupid question, but I really couldn't find an answer.
Does the Launcher support .lnk files with more than one word? I added and scraped for example super meat boy. But when I start it it says it couldn't find C:\PCgames\Super".

Couldn't find an answer in the wiki either. Am I just blind? ^^"

If multiple words aren't working, try making the file one word, "SuperMeatBoy.lnk"
and then re-naming it inside ALA to include the spaces. The effect is the same and the game should scrape and pull fanart the same as normal. I can't comment on ALA's LNK handling, as I use a custom-rolled EXE file to launch both URL (steam shortcuts) and LNK files.

I noticed a little problem with DOSBOX (on Linux) today:
You can add a different dosbox.conf as command line argument so you can change graphics card emulation per game and so on.
If I modify the rom variable to
Code:
-conf /xy/xy/dosbox.conf
and let the launcher argument at
Code:
"%rom%"
I get an open dosbox window, however the dosbox.conf won't be used.
If I replace the launcher argument to
Code:
-conf /xy/xy/dosbox.conf
it works immediately, but then I can only launch the one game that fits this dosbox.conf.
Long story short: The command itself is right, but if it's split into launcher and rom parts it won't work any more.
Could you please do a short test on this?

I'm not sure that I really understand, but if you want to use different dosbox configuration files for each game, the think you can try is to use the %romname% parameter. So if your command line for dosbox is :
Code:
/usr/bin/dosbox "/path/[b]game1[/b].bat" -fullscreen -conf "/path/[b]dosbox[/b].conf"
You can rename the doxbox conf file with the same name as the .bat file, like this:
Code:
/usr/bin/dosbox "/path/[b]game1[/b].bat" -fullscreen -conf "/path/[b]game1[/b].conf"
And so for the advanced launcher the command line will be :
Code:
[b]Application :[/b] /usr/bin/dosbox
[b]Arguments:[/b] "[b]%rom%[/b]" -fullscreen -conf "/path/[b]%romname%[/b].conf"
Normally it may works. I have never used dosbox with configuration file... so I may be wrong... No

Thanks for your reply!
Well, I even don't have to pass the %rom% data as the game itself is loaded via dosbox.conf autoexec section (I need some mapping and univbe running before the game itself).
So you can say dosbox.conf in this case is somehow like a batch file that's being loaded by dosbox. The only problem is that the appended dosbox.conf doesn't work when the conf is a rom entry - it only works when hardcoded into launcher argument. This is what really surprises me because I'd think the output (or: what DOSBOX sees) would be exactly the same.
Maybe you could do a short investigation if there's anything that can be done on ALA to solve this - DOSBOX games are going to need at least different gamepad/keyboard mappings per game so it'd be great if it would work without any workarounds. If it isn't possible it's no big problem though as it can be done with scripts too. Wink

  • If you let the default paths empty, each time you will create a new stand alone launcher, you will be asked as before to indicate a thumbs and a fanarts folder.
  • If you setup the default paths, each time you will create a new stand alone launcher, corresponding thumbs and a fanarts folders will be automatically assigned using those default values.
If you have the same application name for different stand-alone launchers, they will have by default the same fanarts and thumbs paths. But you could always change them. In this case you will always have to select the thumbs and fanarts images : during or after the launcher creation.

For file launchers, thumbs and fanarts folders will be always, by default, the same than the roms thumbs and fanarts folders.

Thank you for the translation.

It is not possible to use it. Sad

Normally white spaces into .lnk file name are supported. Are you sure to have indicated the double quotes of "%rom%" into the argument field of your launcher? Huh

Ok... I was able to start dosbox, using conf files from the advanced launcher. This is my launchers.xml file configuration for the launcher :
Quote:...
<name>PC Games (dosbox)</name>
<application>/usr/bin/dosbox</application>
<args>-conf "%rom%"</args>
<rompath>/media/emulation/dosbox/roms/</rompath>
<thumbpath>/media/emulation/dosbox/covers/</thumbpath>
<fanartpath>/media/emulation/dosbox/fanarts/</fanartpath>
<romext>conf</romext>
...
And for the rom part :
Code:
...
<name>doom</name>
<filename>[b]/media/emulation/dosbox/roms/doom.conf[/b]</filename>
...
Now this is the last line of my doom.conf file. The most important here is to mount the folder where is located your games. In my case games are into /media/emulation/dosbox/roms folder and each game is into separate directory (e.g. doom game is into /media/emulation/dosbox/roms/doom)
Code:
...
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
# You can put your MOUNT lines here.
[b]mount c /media/emulation/dosbox/roms[/b]
c:
cd doom
DOOM.EXE
exit
I hope it will be what you are expecting.... Wink
I think this method is better than using .bat file. Thankv you to make me discover it !!!!
