Total time of a movie on the clock? Nice idea, but then you need a different time scale. A regular 12 hour clock won't work for that.

No where close to a beta.
(Read months away. Not days, not weeks. Months.)
Is there a nice way to say please stop asking?
(My method of ignoring didn't seem to work)

Thanks for the reply, I am sure you can understand the excitement of this skin and people wanting to know when it might be done

I would be willing to donate for those skin , I love your concept.

Oh I totally understand the excitement, I'm excited too Big Grin I just don't want people to get un-realistically excited about a release date, because its a ways off!

Not really looking for donations, but thank you for the offer. Support for my hairbrained schemes is enough! Smile

Bingo. Twelve would represent 100% watched, Six 50%, etc. Maybe a stop watch image would be more appropriate when we get that, might be a little easier to wrap your head around. Maybe for them both, actually.

- alshain - 2011-01-01

Yes, that is clear, but to I meant your second idea, to represent the length of a movie.

- supertom44 - 2011-01-01

I think he is referring to the length of a movie, so when your halfway through a movie the stop watch/clock would be at 50%, 6.

I think it could work as long as there is somewhere where it tells your what time it will finish at, cos saying it will finish in 40% doesn't always help.

Wow! This is the most original skin that i've seen so far!
I will follow all your updates, i will certainly give it a try when it's ready.
Will u add hd movies to the home menu?

There are 7 user configurable entries In the home menu. I think it will be plenty of customization for most users!

Agreed.

How about some sort of 'steam guage' image with two pointers on it, one showing the length of movie in minutes and the other showing how much you've watched?

Looks good in my head (as most things do) but describing it is a different matter!

I must say WAUW!. This gotta be the coolest concept I have ever seen - looks awesome Smile

May have been asked already, but do you have any plans on adding support for Live-tv in this skin? Smile

Playing with the music home. Open for suggestions for other elements... what would you guys like to see on the music home?

TV Airing Today dialog:

1. Need a way to launch from TV Home
2. Replace envelope with something else?

I know you don't need this project to be more ambitious, but while we're dreaming, a natural fit would be returning a feed of concert dates for artists in the library/general geographic area...?

(if you want to take this seriously: http://www.bandsintown.com/api/overview can do a lot of fancy things [geo-ip based location searching, recommendations given a list of artists, etc], or http://www.last.fm/api/show?service=270, or I'm sure there are a number of site-specific RSS feeds available if a user signs up somewhere that tracks these things and then passes their relevant info to the skin/script [allowing you to forgo the heavy lifting])

Or it could be as easy as taking extending the Most Played info by querying one of the APIs (http://www.last.fm/api/show?service=117) for shows by those artists (anywhere, or in a given area). Granted, Zeppelin and Pink Floyd (etc) don't tour a lot anymore and are likely to be high on a lot of charts, but if there are _no_ touring artists in someone's library, they're not likely to find a music "news" feed terribly relevant either....

2. I see where you're going in that the envelope signifies a "this just in" kind of feel, but it's too blank a visual cue as above (no surprise given that it's an early idea and you're clearly not happy with it yourself). I wouldn't be mad at just the paper popping up without the additional imagery, but I'm sure you'll come up with something that hits the perfect note here.... No real suggestion (or value) here, just cosigning a general displeasure with the plain envelope.

You could launch it from a sub menu on tv?

How about instead of an envelope you use a paper cd case? Bit more relevant, might not look as interesting though.

Also "Teevee"Huh

Bandsintown: fantastic idea and something that i haven't thought of at all. I'm thinking something from the main page that shows who is playing in your area tonight (this week?) Similar to the airing tonight tv script. I wonder if fir this we can pull the weather location settings? Is it fair to assume that your first weather settings are you actual location? I suppose a second setting would be better. But then even more specifically, on the artists page it would be great to tag with "on tour" (last.FM does this very well) and link from there to the set of tour dates. Awesome idea, sir. Fits.in exactly with the kind of thing I'm trying to do. Now to bug someone about the python to make it work.... Tongue

I think the envelope works fine for the RSS feed page, but yeah, need something more appropriate for the TV listing. Maybe ill just find a scan of a TV guide page. Tongue I've got some some awesome old.comic book pages I've been itching to do something with, but no love yet.

Teevee is a little goofy. I know. Television is too damn long for the space, and just TV looks stupid. So i went for goofy. *shrugs* it will launch somehow from the TV home page, I was more just thinking aloud that I need to find a way to fit it in the design without crowding things up to much.

On a side note, there are also way way way too many options when you open up the music library. I'm working on how to break it into more useful chunks. Might mean an extra click for somethings, but I think I can make it make more logical sense.
