Trouble listing large directories - User 29008 - 2010-12-14
Hey folks,
I have experiencing this for quite a while now, and always thought it might be due to network issues.
I got a mounted network share, containing directories with again, about 4000 directory entries.
When I browse to that large dir in XBMC, it takes minutes for XBMC to actually get the content listed.
When I list the very same directoy on the shell of my XBMC box, as I said it's a mounted share, mounted from the xbmc box, the dir listing takes 2-3 seconds.
Is this a general XBMC limitation, I know that 3000+ directory entries is quiet a lot.

Same problem here, and it is present since 9.11 till latest.
Tried: SAMBA, FTP, HTTP, also local lists.
It is really annoying.
Loading pictures, music, video with large directories is simply very bad experience with XBMC.
Try it, easy reproducible.
