Jason, I Just tried deleting those rules and it made no difference. 75 is taking long again. Is there anything else you think I should try?

- Jason102 - 2011-10-02

I honestly have no idea. My only guess is that it's a memory issue. I'll try and reproduce it on my system and see what i can find.

OK, no worries. I'm still more than happy with it as the channel does still work. I don't mind leaving it to build overnight or whatever. Besides it's only the initial build of the channel that is slow. Thanks for all your hard work, I look forward to your updates Big Grin

An update to stable-pre that I think no one here will care about. On the first use of PseudoTV the channels will be selected based on what's in your library as opposed to that set of pre-made channels that i used to use. Hopefully this will provide a better experience for new users.

Hey Jason102, if you want to, read through my guide i posted in the comment above, if you think it could help people, feel free to add it in with your information about PTV, i made it to help as many people as I could with a common problem within XBMC, which kinda affects the PTV addon albeit indirectly.

Plugin doesn't work at all for me on Windows 7 with latest (Oct 3) nightly build and this version of PseudoTV:

Jasonra-XBMC-PseudoTV-v1.0.0-155-gf5abcb3

No matter what I do I get the "Unable to populate channels." message reported here several times. Here's the debug log of me attempting to start the plugin numerous times.

http://pastebin.ca/2086636

In particular, this line puzzles me:

Code:
23:15:15 T:4668   ERROR: Texture manager unable to load file: C:\Users\sandmancl\Desktop\Jasonra-XBMC-PseudoTV-v1.0.0-155-gf5abcb3.zip\icon.png

Why is XBMC attempting to load information from the zip file that I installed the addon from ?

I had this working a few days ago on my Apple TV 2 so I know it works and I'm excited about the options here Smile

Any chance of getting this plugin classified as a Video plugin rather than a Program plugin ?

any chance of a year/decade rule?

for example, id like to set up a channel were only movies from the 80's are shown, same again for 90's etc

it would be great for us nostalgia freaks Big Grin

SandmanCL: You're using a very old version of PTV. Download the newest stable-pre from the repository (link on the first page) and try that out. I don't know whether video would be a better fit...I'll look around for some official descriptions and see if it is. This will be easier in the next few days after I make a release and it goes into the official repo.

RenZ0R: I'm not so sure. As I've said, I'm trying to avoid duplicating too much functionality of the smart playlist editor since that already has so much more flexibility than my setup. I'll consider it for the next version, though.

Hi Jason - I was wondering if you have any plans to add a bumper and commercial option to PTV, like TVTime has? Just curious, I'm playing with both and love them!! Thanks for a great add on!

You could interleave a directory channel filled with your commercials and bumpers with a regular channel.

Using icelibrary;

PTV finds all episodes in library, starts streaming and creates EPG

try to change channel and PTV buffers and then closes

anyway to fix this errorHuh

I've figured out why this happens when using PsuedoTV in conjunction with IceLibrary. Megavideo / Megaupload doesn't allow seeking unless you have a premium account. This would cause issues with channel changing where the video's start time needs to be adjusted. If you play a video added via IceLibrary from the beginning, PseudoTV works as expected.

Unless you're willing / able to fork out for a Premium account with Megaupload I would filter out any video that ends with .strm. This should fix the issue of PseudoTV crashing.

Offtopic: When you're uploading a debug log, use Pastebin.com. It's much easier to view the log from their than it is to download it.

Not exactly working perfectly. I thought it was but never tried starting a video added via IceLibrary halfway through. I've only use PseudoTV where the video begins at the beginning and it worked fine. Trying the switch channels to a channel where the IceLibrary video was already in progress crashed PseudoTV.

If you have a premium account and it's still crashing then I don't know what to say. I think it may have something to do with skipping directly to a predetermined time but I can't really offer any more advice as I only have a free account to use.
