the first post was outdated. updated it with the correct package name.

try this:
Code:
apt-get remove hts-tvheadend
apt-get install tvheadend

- Kosmosnautti - 2011-04-01

Hmm, after doing that the tvheadend webconfig still works as before, EPG data shows up etc, but now I can't see any channels anymore on the XBMC side :/

I've tried clearing all the channel data from Live TV > General, but even that didn't help, no matter what I do, channels just won't show up on XBMC anymore. On the tvheadend webconfig they seem to be exactly the same as before.

Victory at last!

Just got it working, needed to add new login thru the webconfig of tvheadend for XBMC to connect.

However, I still didn't get EPG data to show up. But, selecting "Ignore Database for PVR-Server EPG" from "Live TV > EPG" fixed everything, and now I have the correct EPG on all of my channels! Smile

Thanks again for helping me out Smile

try to stop xbmc, remove ~/.xbmc/userdata/Epg*.db and start xbmc again. your db layout might be outdated and not updated properly.

if that doesn't work, please pastebin a full debug log

@ dushmaniac:

The epg in the pvr tvheadend addon is currently only showing the plot, not the director, actors or genre (like actionmovie, comedy or other), that is, where I live, the Netherlands

Is this intentionally?

btw, I tried your ppa (.deb) as well as installing from both the ppa-pvr an the master git.
It all resulted in the same (lack of) info in the epg.
In earlier builds this was OK.

Cheers,

bas.

director and actors have never been in there.
it should display the genre. if it doesn't display the genre, it's a bug.

But I'm quite sure I remember recording movies based on who's playing in it, not so long ago.
In the webui of tvheadend this is the line above the genre.

I'm confused. I usually do not have a memory problem. But I'm sure you know best. Let's make this a feature request, shall we?

Kind regards,

bas.

ah right, you were talking about the recordings. I was looking at epg tags. I'll have a look at it.

Thank you very much!

Just to make sure, my english is less than perfect:
I was talking about selecting a show in the epg (timeline mode), which gives me a popup containing all the needed info, including genre actors and so on, and giving me the opportunity to record it. Maybe this was fully functional in Dharma? That I don't remember...

btw: thanks for fixing the offset of epg by using utc. Helps alot now that we are using summertime. Never used the offset before, and I'll be using 'master' branche until this fix shows up in ppa-pvr.

Cherio, keep up the good work!

bas.

I've added the genre in the dialogs and on the interface in the dev version. will be present in the next build.

the other info isn't on the interface now. will add that later.

Hi, first of all, thanx for the hard work you have been doing, I (and many others here) really appreciate it.
Since I see many git commits within the past few days, I am wondering if you plan to make a new ppa build soon (so that maybe I don't have to go through the trouble compiling the dev build).
Also, I saw some commits concerning the import of backend channel groups; does this mean that TvHeadend tags (?) will be imported or something? That would be great!
Finally, I have noticed that if I turn the option "Ignore database blah blah" off in the EPG options, I soon get some weird inconsistencies in EPG data (so I currently have turned it on). Is this what I should do?

I'm just waiting for the vdr and mythtv authors to update their add-ons now. After that, a new build will be sent to the ppa.

yes. if you add tags to channels in the tvheadend webinterface, xbmc will create groups for those tags and add the tagged channels to the groups. in the next build, you'll see a new option in the pvr settings page: "sync channel groups with backends", where you can turn it on and off.

sounds like a bug. wait for the new ppa build (planned for later this week) and check if it the bug is still present there. might have been fixed already.

Thank you for the super-fast reply!
Since I am too anxious to wait, I will try compiling the dev source!

will it also work with tvserver (mediaportal) as backend?

anyone have any problems with tvheadend crashing using usb tv tuners? I am using ubuntu karmic and this seems to happen nearly every day. Using dushmaniac's latest tvheadend build at the moment.
