I just tried to run sudo apt-get update and got this...

E: Malformed line 7 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)

Hmm...

First I want to thank you Dushmaniac, thanks to your great work I've finally gave away my dm800 PVR.

This has probably been noted, but lately I have to stop the tv stream when switching to Radio and vice versa.

Cheers.

Dushmaniac,
Thanks for the new build with fixes to the above issue. Also the channel swithching seems even faster now. Great stuff!

can anyone tell me how to update to newer builds? I tried
apt-get update and then
apt-get upgrade
like usual but that did only update tvheadend not xbmc...

revert to the previous build. just follow mr_blond18's instructions.

I'll look into the uxlaunch thing. the problem is that I took a backport of uxlaunch so I could use the newer xbmc-packaging tree. which didn't work all that well for lucid it seems. I got to manually backport changes to the old dharma based tree of xbmc-packaging in order to keep lucid working, which is annoying.

Where are mr_blond18's instructions? - beschmid - 2011-10-19

mr_blond18 Wrote:Had the same problem. uxlaunch was installed alongside the updated xbmc-pvr. I am using XBMC-live. uxlaunch failed to start somehow (didn't dig into it too deep). The log file located in /var/log/uxlaunch grew very rapidly to about 1GB within 5 minutes with the same line repeating that it was killed. I fixed it uninstalling uxlaunch and installing the old version of xbmc-pvr again.

Instructions:
1. remove uxlaunch
sudo apt-get purge uxlaunch

2. download needed xbmc-pvr .deb's
xbmc-bin:
wget http://packages.pulse-eight.net/ubuntu/pool/stable/dists/lucid/xbmc-bin_11.0-pvr+p8~git20110812.5c6848a-0ubuntu1~stable46~lucid_i386.deb
or if you use 64 bit:
wget http://packages.pulse-eight.net/ubuntu/pool/stable/dists/lucid/xbmc-bin_11.0-pvr+p8~git20110812.5c6848a-0ubuntu1~stable46~lucid_amd64.deb

xbmc:
wget http://packages.pulse-eight.net/ubuntu/pool/stable/dists/lucid/xbmc_11.0-pvr+p8~git20110812.5c6848a-0ubuntu1~stable46~lucid_all.deb

xbmc-live:

3. install old xbmc-pvr
xbmc-bin:
sudo dpkg -i xbmc-bin_11.0-pvr+p8~git20110812.5c6848a-0ubuntu1~stable46~lucid_i386.deb
or if you are using 64 bit
sudo dpkg -i xbmc-bin_11.0-pvr+p8~git20110812.5c6848a-0ubuntu1~stable46~lucid_amd64.deb

xbmc:
sudo dpkg -i xbmc_11.0-pvr+p8~git20110812.5c6848a-0ubuntu1~stable46~lucid_all.deb

xbmc-live:
sudo dpkg -i xbmc-live_11.0-pvr+p8~git20110812.5c6848a-0ubuntu1~stable46~lucid_all.deb

Somehow this isn't working for me.

This isn't working for me either. I can succefully purge uxlaunch and reinstall the previous version of xbmc, but after that all I get is the standard ubuntu bootscreen and then a login prompt. Whatever I try nothing helps. Any ideas are much appreciated.

Try this... - beschmid - 2011-10-21

Try this to get XBMC started.

1. sudo apt-get purge uxlaunch
(if you haven't already)

2. Restart, that should give you the prompt to login, so login with username and pass.

3. then type: startx

That worked for me to get back into XBMC for now Smile

do you have maybe good experiences with some of them or can give me an advise which one to get?
or an recommendation?

- JeroenM - 2011-10-21

I can recomend TBS-6981 if you have any spare PCIe slots available.
I run 2 of those in an ubuntu 11 server with tvheadend.
It workd great!

Run it at home with 2 atv2´s and a couple of windows Machines.
