Playback problems of 1440x720p H264 AVC with ION2 - huk11 - 2011-02-08 Hi, My system is Atom 510 and ION2 Dharma 10.0 Win 7 64 bit (Shuttle xs35gt)serving a full HD TV via HDMI. I have problems to play H264 720p 30fps (like BBC HD TV live via tuxbox or saved files (ts)). Hardware acceleration is on. All other tv formats (such as ZDF 1080 50 fps) play well. When I play the 720p files frames are lost down to stop of the video (audio continues). I guess this is a problem of the codec. I should mention that I can play the files with Windows Media Player and Media Center. VLC also has some problems. Any suggestions? I searched for quite some time but could not find a solution. Here is a log file where I first play the live stream and then the file: http://pastebin.com/fzVJ8hFr Thanks, HUK11 And here is the media information of the file that I played: General ID : 802 Complete name : \\bm750\Harddisk\movie\20101219 1559 - BBC One HD - Drop Zone.ts Format : MPEG-TS File size : 1.79 GiB Duration : 25mn 9s Overall bit rate : 10.2 Mbps Video ID : 5400 (0x1518) Menu ID : 6941 (0x1B1D) Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : [email protected] Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames Format settings, GOP : M=4, N=12 Codec ID : 27 Duration : 25mn 9s Bit rate : 9 248 Kbps Width : 1 440 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 25.000 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : MBAFF Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.238 Stream size : 1.62 GiB (91%) Color primaries : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4, SMPTE RP177 Transfer characteristics : BT.709-5, BT.1361 Matrix coefficients : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4 709, SMPTE RP177 Audio #1 ID : 5401 (0x1519) Menu ID : 6941 (0x1B1D) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Mode extension : CM (complete main) Codec ID : 6 Duration : 25mn 9s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 192 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : Front: L R Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 16 bits Video delay : -925ms Stream size : 34.5 MiB (2%) Language : English Audio #2 ID : 5402 (0x151A) Menu ID : 6941 (0x1B1D) Format : MPEG Audio Format version : Version 1 Format profile : Layer 2 Codec ID : 3 Duration : 25mn 9s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 256 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Video delay : -866ms Stream size : 46.1 MiB (3%) Language : nar Text #1 ID : 5403 (0x151B)-888 Menu ID : 6941 (0x1B1D) Format : Teletext Subtitle Language : English Text #2 ID : 5404 (0x151C) Menu ID : 6941 (0x1B1D) Format : DVB Subtitle Codec ID : 6 Language : English Menu ID : 260 (0x104) Menu ID : 6941 (0x1B1D) Duration : 25mn 9s List : 5400 (0x1518) (AVC) / 5401 (0x1519) (AC-3, English) / 5402 (0x151A) (MPEG Audio, nar) / 5403 (0x151B) () / 5404 (0x151C) (DVB Subtitle, English) Language : / English / nar / / English - jhsrennie - 2011-02-09 There's obviously a problem with the format because the log is full of "[h264] hardware accelerator failed to decode picture" errors. Why the format is causing a problem I don't know... JR - huk11 - 2011-02-13 I finally posted a bug report (my first one, not perfect): http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/11201#comment:1 Hope there will be some echo. huk Microsoft codec works for advanced h.264 - huk11 - 2011-03-20 Hi again, There has not been a response or echo for a month. I am just a user and not a multimedia expert and do not really know how to pinpoint to the proper problem. However, I found some extended discussion in this forum: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/codecs-external-players-55/problem-bbc-one-hd-bbc-hd-dvxa-93339/ . It seems that BBC HD uses advanced features of H.264 such as variable bit rate. Many codecs have problems to play these files. As I mentioned under Windows 7 the Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder codec works well. I can play the format using the Windows Media Player as external program to Xbmc. Can I use this (Microsoft) codec with Xbmc? How? Thanks, huk11 |
