RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - zijin_cheng - 2013-06-06 Hi, I'm not looking to build a HTPC, but just looking at using an old computer. How will a Pentium D with the onboard GMA945 fare? RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - Dougie Fresh - 2013-06-06 If it has a PCI-e x16 slot, you can get a GPU card for it that'll do 1080p + HD audio bitstreaming for under $20, like the HD5450 or HD6450 or for Linux, Nvidia GT520/GT610. RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - noveltyitem - 2013-06-09 How do you install windows on these setups without a CD drive? Thanks RE: Your Very First HTPC? I haven't used a CD drive in so long it's not worth it. RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - eskro - 2013-06-11 no problem solidsatras!! RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - herod98 - 2013-06-18 Hi Eskro Thankyou for the build details. I'm not sure if the information is available, but it would be great to see data such as: estimated power consumption (watts) of each system in idle mode vs playing media whether the system is capable of sleeping / hibernating (S3 modes etc) It looks like the zotac id83 potentially offers the best bang for the buck whilst being somewhat future proof. But Where do You Start? - oldman - 2013-06-19 @eskro any ideas for a build with celeron 847 and nvidia GT? RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - joelbaby - 2013-06-19 @eskro ... How important is the CPU Mark in the builds? RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - rewtgr - 2013-06-21 Hello. I'm looking to buy a minipc for my bedroom to watch online streams and smb. I am between 2 giada minipc. The 1st one is the i53 with an i3 and intel hd 4000 and 4gb ram and the 2nd (much cheaper) a giada i30 with an Atom D525 and an nVIDIA ION GT218. Also some other devices I can find localy about the same price as the i30 are an Intel Celeron 877+intel hd (my guess and from a bit of googling it's a HD 2000) and an intel Atom D510+intel hd 3150. Besides the i3 minipc the other 3 are alot cheaper. As I said I want to use xbmc for internet stream (no netflix) from 1channel icefilms etc and some smb streams divx ,h264 , mkvs (some with 20000 bit rate). I want a minipc that can handle everything I throw in it. If I can achieve that with the low priced ones I will be happy. Please advise. Thanks in advance. RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - eskro - 2013-06-22 links fixed RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - User 68127 - 2013-06-22 Hey guys, I've been looking around trying to find something I can hook up to my TV that will play 1080p 2D MKV's, and stream HD Netflix/YouTube etc. Is this something I can manage for around £200? Closest I've found so far is the Celeron Lenovo Q190, but anyone have any builds around that price in the UK? RE: Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start? - user0039 - 2013-06-24 Hi eskro, Would you please take a look at the specification I've worked up in my threat, from reading your guides it may be overkill ! I've listed what I've found and am thinking, would very much welcome your thoughts! Regards user0039 |
