H264 dxva2 WORKS just fine for me with the 17-8 nightly pre-11.0 build. Haven't tested vc-1

/offtopic: One day there's no way to get it working, the next there are multiple things to choose from Eek

so which is a better solution to the root issue in this thread, to use the DSplayer build that is apparently "back from the dead" or the 8-17 nightly build?

Well this looks more promising to me: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=94645

This is from the guy who created DSPlayer. He has forsaken DSPlayer and is now working on DSCodec for XBMC. Sadly however, the guy has little time to work on it.

DSPlayer is a dead end, because no one is developing it anymore. The Pre-eden build is done by a guy who has no C++ programming experience. He is just compiling old code from which he has removed some compiling bugs.

This does not change anything when dxva is disabled. Can be something else in the nightlies causing the crash though.

Of course. Is there a way to output a debug file or some crash log ? Meantime i'm looking for an alternative player (mpc-hc) who works fine.

Thx

I have tryed another time enabling debug mode, after doing an installation in another folder... And it worked ! It rocks !

EDIT : it works only when debug mode is on, otherwise i experience the same crash... I'm disapointed...

Here is the logfile, if somebody can help ?

And the one who worked, with debug mode on :

Ehh, too bad I'm totally new to the xbmc code. I can see no reasonable reason why this would work only in debug? Confused
And if its working in MPC-HC it should really work here...

I will see if I can read out something from the logs, but as I said I'm no xbmc guru.

It doesn't look like this worked either? It doesn't say that it start playing, seems to be some sort of read errors. Have you tried playing a file locally instead of over network?

PelleBert Wrote:It doesn't look like this worked either? It doesn't say that it start playing, seems to be some sort of read errors. Have you tried playing a file locally instead of over network?

It worked, it's loading subtitles, rendering with ffshow, outputing audio.

There is a same error.
Code:
ERROR: convert_checked iconv() failed from UTF-8 to UTF-16LE, errno=2(No such file or directory)
So I think it's not the point.

What changes is :
Code:
19:01:07 T:4300 ERROR: D3DERR_DEVICEHUNG
Direct3D clearly. But don't know how to solve it Sad

I didn't try to play a file locally, but I don't think it will change anything.
However I'll give it a try.

Same issue... Off course with 10.1 stable the same movie works fine (without DXVA2); Last try, i'll put today's nightly.

Rolled back to 10.1 without dxva2... Wait&See

- PelleBert - 2011-08-19 10:17

Do you run XP or windows 7? Does it crash for all files or just mkvs? Did all contain subtitles? If only some mkvs crashes could you send me a small clip to test?

I found a thread in which someone has a similiar problem when "pixel shading" is enabled in some mkvs. If you feel like helping out some more you could changing between the different renderers and see if there is any differences.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=81367
I still can't understand why it works when debug-logging is enabled...

- Windows 7 x64 Pro N, latest drivers and bios
- I've tryed mostly mkv (to try out DXVA2 off course) but i think i've tryed with a SD divx and it crashed to, i must confirm this.
- I've tryed randomly 2-3 more, same issue, maybe i can post somewhere (tell me ? Do you know dl.free.fr ?) short-movies i own. (300-400MB minimum)

But i don't think it's a file issue, because they're working fine with mpc-hc nor kmplayer/vlc AND XBMC nightly with debugging /ON Eek

I've read this one, and the other talking about D3D error.

Sincerely thanks for your concern but I'm a little bit tired searching and changing my system, I've even tried to fully reset my system (taked out every filters/players, reseting XBMC profile from scratch) and I've loosed the half night for nothing Sad (yes it's the next day tired man speaking :ooSmile

Posted the question in windows section... Maybe somebody will have a new look on this.

- XBMCRocksMyBoat - 2011-08-19 13:18

I've tried the new Nightly Build yesterday and it worked perfectly. I've only tried h264 (no VC-1 yet). I'm happy. I will remove my discrete video card.
