Plz need help - Zalman 160 remote does not work in XBMC - 2mas - 2011-04-03
Hi,
I have tried to fix this for two days now and im all out of ideas.
Problem: The Zalman remote that comes with the Zalman 160 case works at a basic level in Vista (can move between icons etc) but does absolutely nothing in XBMC.
What works:
- IR-Trans sees my pressed remote buttons and identifies them correctly, "Mediacenter Up" etc.
- I can move between icons on the Vista desktop and start the programs with "OK".
- If i start Notepad i can move around in the Menus.
Edit: - In Windows Media Center everything works like a charm but going back to that program is not an option.
What doesnt work:
- Absolutely nothing happens in XBMC

Asus P5n32 SLI Deluxe with Intel 2.4GHz 6600 dual core and 2GB RAM
Asus EN8600 GT Silent
500 GB Samsung HD
Software:
Vista Ultimate 32bit
IR Trans client 5.21.1
XBMC 10.1 Git:e9e9099 Compiled: Mar 8 2011)
What i have tried:
- Enable/disable "Remote control sends keyboard presses" in XBMC
- Installed and uninstalled the MCEREMOTE Add-on by John Rennie
- Ran the registry fix in this thread
- Installed Eventghost (not sure i completely understood what to do in that program though since the how-tos seems a bit outdated)
I suspect theres an easy solution to this but i just cant figure it out and would really appreciate the help.

I found the solution at last.
The problem was that i had sat XBMC to run as Administrator.
When i unchecked that the remote worked flawlessly in XBMC.
Could an admin replace "plz need help" with [Solved] please?
