pvr.mythtv add-on
(2015-08-20, 14:15)MikeB2013 Wrote: @janbar

Just a heads up

Latest changes to mythtv 0.28pre includes protocol bump.
https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/...3eb21f7dcf

There are massive changes in this update and mythfrontend is broken (will not connect to backend - protocol token issue) on my system (Ubuntu 15.04). I had to completely downgrade to get mythtv working again. The changes also break mythweb,

Suggest do not upgrade 0.28pre at this time.

Mike

I... wish I would have come here before I updated. Now to sort out how to downgrade...

MythTv commits from earlier this morning appear to fix these issues.
I am back online compiling origin/master, (4b10c078ac) frontend and backend now speak to each other.
No luck with the plugin yet.

@martyg7

Mythtv PVR addon will not work with the version of mythtvbackend 0.28 (4b10c078ac) due to the protocol change (86 to 87).

Changes are required to the Mythtv PVR addon to work with the new version of the mythbackend.

The improvement to support protocol 87 has been merged now:

Jarvis: checkout latest commit from branch doityourself.

Isengard: checkout version 2.6.1 from official repositories. Probably you have to wait refreshing. Else from janbar ppa for ubuntu user.

About backports:
Helix: checkout version 1.13.1 from janbar ppa or http://janbar.github.io/pvr.mythtv/download/index.html
Gotham: checkout version 1.9.22-61 from janbar ppa or http://janbar.github.io/pvr.mythtv/download/index.html

Hm... I just downloaded and installed 1.13.1 for my RPi2 on OpenELEC 5.0, and I'm on 0.28.0~master.20150822.2bedfc5-0ubuntu0mythbuntu3 on the backend now... I'm still getting "ProcessRequest mainserver.cpp:1549 (HandleVersion) MainServer: MainServer::HandleVersion - Client speaks protocol version 75 but we speak 87!" on the backend...

Any ideas? What am I missing...?

Edit - so I fiddled with the installation a bit... had to 'uninstall' the PVR add-on a few times and reboot the Pi2 a few times... it seems like even though it said it was using 1.13.1, I think it was actually using an older version. Eventually OpenELEC gave me an error that I had no PVR clients enabled, and after this it seemed to work!!

Go figure. Sorry for the false alarm, and thanks for the quick update!

Hi,

I have installed version 15.1 of Kodi using apt-get on ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
My mythtv backend is 0.27 and it is setup and is recording correctly.
I have installed kodi-pvr-mythtv-isengard which is 2.6.1
When starting Kodi it tells me that no PVR add-on is enabled.
when enabling it, i get the following in the log file, but it is not being enabled.
As soon as I leave the page and go back in, the plugin is disabled again and I cannot watch any of my recordings

01:00:41 T:139909191038912 ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting addons://disabled/xbmc.pvrclient
01:00:41 T:139909191038912 ERROR: CGUIMediaWindow::GetDirectory(addons://disabled/xbmc.pvrclient) failed

how can I solve this?
there was an earlier post, but that was a while back.
Help to get this sorted would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Martin

Weird. Try this:
1 - Disable LiveTV
2 - Disable all enabled pvr addons
3 - Restart KODI
4 - Enable addon
5 - Enable LiveTV

I pushed version 2.6.1 of the addon for future OpenELEC-6.0 in the download page http://janbar.github.io/pvr.mythtv/download/index.html .
Seems the official repository is no longer uptodate and only old version 2.4.3 is provided.

Thanks for the quick answer.
I have tried it before and now again, but to no avail.
I have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, even used the dev version (3.x) but it just will not work.
is there a way to bump up logging, so it tells me a bit more?

@366Cobra , you can not mix specific version of the addon with any version of kodi. The version 2.6.1 (for Isengard) works only with Kodi Isengard which is the current stable version (15.x). If you have installed Kodi Helix (14.x) you have to install the addon for Helix.

Hi Janbar, all,

Not sure if this is a bug or whether some kind of functionality can be built in to stop user from reproducing it. I'm not even sure if this is specific to this add on or whether it kodi itself or maybe even mythtv?...

This was original found by my wife (a somewhat inpatient human being! ). With in live TV, Kodi will crash if I zap quickly between channels 3 or 4 times and not wait for the channel to tune properly e.g when I change a channel the current channel (picture) freezes for a split second , then change the channel.

I'm presuming there needs to be some kind of delay for the channel to properly lock/display before another channel can be changedHuh

Hope my explanation of this use case makes sense.

Here's my log : http://xbmclogs.com/peqjphq1x

This is the log after the crash, not sure if you need this? http://xbmclogs.com/pnermye3e

I have a crash log as well?

Thanks @AshG. A crash log will be great if it contains the stack trace, else i cannot do something with it. Else I had issue with Kodi 15.0 which sometimes locks during channel change. Since I use latest 15.1 it seems to be fixed and trying change channel quickly 3 or 4 times doesn't crash here and i didn't set any delay for channel change. This kind of issue often is related to kodi demuxer and probably here i would never have the issue because my channel streams differ from yours.
You could try to enable the demuxer of the addon by checking the advanced option in the addon settings: Enable demuxing MPEG-TS.
Let me know.

Thanks @janbar - i'm using 15.1, and upgraded straight from 14.3, i'm not sure whether i could reproduce it on 14.3... i'm pretty sure i have the demuxer setting turned on, but not sure... i'll reproduce it tonight and post the crash log. Just to confirm, to get the stack trace in the crash log, the only thing i need to do is:

Code:
sudo apt-get install gdb

Do I still need debugging turned on is there anything i need to do?

@janbar - ok here we go, seem to be 2 crash logs? but Kodi only crashed once? both are below in order of time. Hope this helps!

If, say, I'm watching 14.1 and try to change to 14.2 using the up key, it merely resets the live tv file that it had going for channel 14.1 and starts playing it from the beginning. Looking at the mythbackend.log file on Mythbuntu, I don't see anything happen. Looking at the kodi.log on the RPi2, it looks like it is processing a request to change to the exact same channel that it was on, i.e.14.1. If I hit stop, return to Guide or Channels and then select 14.2, it starts playing 14.2 like it should.

Anyone else experiencing this? Here is a cut/paste of the relevant part of the kodi.log file.

TBN is the "callsign" of channel 14.1. After hitting UP key, it just goes back to the beginning of the "ring buffer" that it was using for 14.1

Any ideas of anything I can change to fix this?
Experience: It's what you get when you were expecting something else.
