Work for J4205-ITX as well, however i lost all sound after re-start, later after second shutdown and restart the sound came back.
As I use the DVI for sound output i never had problems with passthru so not sure if this firmware made any improvments.

I can confirm that HD sound does NOT work with libreelec, J4205-ITX and FW 1.65 connected via HDMI 2.0 (DP) to HDMI 2.0 capable equipment.

But does it work with 1080p content? Or just 4k & HD sound is not working?

It will not work under Linux until https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98797 has been solved. Till then it will only work under Windows.

I did try Kodi under windows yesterday and can say that the 1080p/23,976 passthrough issue has been solved with FW 1.65, but I got audio dropouts and audio starts about 1 second later than video.

The last poster in the mentioned thread did mix things up. The firmware update only solves the hardware issues of the converter chip, but not the software related issues in regards of linux.

On J3455-ITX, after compiling Kodi Leia from kodi-agile I'm struggling with HDR (HEVC 10-bit) content on my Panasonic 2016 TV - it seems display doesn't recognize HDR metadata and simply plays is as SDR.

I saw some claims that J3455-ITX is not capable of playing HDR content due to lack of this feature on LSPCON converter chip.
Yet I reviewed product specification (http://www.megachips.com/products/displayport/MCDP28x0) and it clearly states that features HDR imaging.

Can anyone shed more light on that?

There is currently no HDR on any LibreElec Device. As long as the drivers do not support it, there will be no integration in LibreElec. And even if the driver can do it, it will certainly take a long time to work under LibreElec.

Kodi would need to support it also I would imagine, so it will prob be a while.

I run the latest KODI dev version on Windows 10 and on my J3455-itx Kodi don't seem to use hardware decoding for 10bit h264 sources? I just see "ff-h264(SW) for "yuv420p10le" pixel formats on 720p material. Is this normal, since wasnt the new thing about apollo lake that it had full 10bit support? So why is it using the software decoder and not the dxva hardware one, which i get for none 10bit material?

Hardware 10 bit support is for H265/HEVC not H264 Hi10 content. H265/HEVC 10 bit is a consumer format that is used for commercial content (like the new UHD Blu-ray standard, and also potentially for broadcast) so support is important.

H264 Hi10 isn't used for commercial content, and is only really used for re-encodes distributed (in some cases probably illegally in some territories) by fans, and isn't supported in consumer hardware as a result.

HDR on Kodi works on Shield so once drivers and Linux get support Kodi should be not too hard to enable it.

Is it a matter of getting a workaround in Linux to have HD audio working with DP chip hdmi 2.0 versions? Is it something Intel needs to resolve? I'm interested only in Linux (Ubuntu or LE), Windows is not an option.
