[LIVE] SMB share not working since upgrade to 10.04.2 LTS

I wonder if anyone can help me, my SMB sharing is baffling me. It used to work fine (XBMC 10.1 on Ubuntu 9.11), but I've updated to 10.04 (and running XBMCLive 10.1) and now it doesn't work. I've read so many dif guides that all vary slightly with 'force user', inherit permissions, and all sorts or dif tags.

My user is called revo, and I want to share 2 directories: the home/revo folder (it has my music in it) and the /media directory (external drive with all my movies).

My /etc/samba/smb.conf file is here: http://pastebin.com/eaP7qFT5

My /usr/share/samba/smb.conf file is here: http://pastebin.com/KgVDJu0s

My result from testpram -s is here: http://pastebin.com/WnQqmD9m

The SMB share doesnt appear in my Finder window (I'm using a mac) like it used to, and like my BT HomeHub still does. Sometimes when I try to connect to the server using the Finder at smb://192.168.1.71 it presents me with the 2 shares (revo and media), but mostly it says "Connection failed, contact administrator" etc. I cannot work out what is going on. Some guides say to use the sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart command to restart it, but that brings up command not found, so to restart i use

sudo service nmbd restart
sudo service smbd restart

although i usually sudo reboot as i don't seem to trust it! Anybody know why it's not sharing? I'm trying to share my media so other XBMC machines on the same networks can enjoy the media.

ok, i think i solved, thought i'd post here for anyone with the same problem. in the /etc/samba/smb.conf file i had some tags in there twice, acquired from mixing tutorials that say 'paste this is there', so i had, for example, workgroup = WORKGROUP twice (not sure if the < > were cocking things up too). So I removed the first tags under the [global] part (lines 34-43).

My share now appears in the finder like it used to (showing up as xbmclive), but it is def slower. The AppleTV downstairs (802.11n) takes AGES to start a movie from the USB drive attached to my 802.11g Revo upstairs. The network is a BT HomeHub 3 (802.11n). I'm guessing an n wireless card in the revo would fix this, but it def used to be quicker, to the point where it was fine before. Hmmmm...
