Harmony Remote Problem
#1
Hi,

I just finish installing my new HTCP with XBMC. I have a harmony 890 and bought an hp ir reciever. After reading some treads, I configured my xbmc as a "Mce keyboard" and set the entire key that I wanted in the harmony software. Unfortunately, windows don’t seem to recognize my command as a mce keyboard. I can see the led flashing when i use my remote, but nothing happened, except when I click on the Menu button, it start Windows Media Center.

So, is there something I did wrong? Do I have to configure a driver so windows see the receiver as a mce keyboard?

Thanks

which HP IR Receiver you have?

im not a specialist in Harmony Remotes as i dont use 1 myself but,

i heard many times that to avoid HeadAches,

Use only HP IR receivers (P/N: 5188-1667) with Logitech Harmonies!

Like i said, i heard many times that to avoid Head Aches,

that statement is made by my Friend PoofyHairGuy's in his signature --> Here!
he's a well known Hardware guru in here so, if i were to use an Harmony Remote,
i would definitely follow his suggestion and get a HP IR receivers (P/N: 5188-1667)!!!
I dont like Head Aches,,,

Only then, if i would still have issues,
i would know that its not the IR Receiver the problem
and could concentrate my energies on something else...

i just answered a thread about Harmony Remotes --> Here!

Great! I set the receiver as a MCE instead of a MCE Keyboard and it's working now

Thanks!

I believe the reason PoofyHairGuy suggests P/N 5188-1667 is b/c its works well with LIRC (Linux).

I'm using P/N 5187-4597 and its working great with Windows. I have it mapped as both a MCE remote and MCE keyboard. On my setup, I found MCE remote functions to be much more responsive than MCE keyboard ones. So all my video functions (play, rewind, etc) are MCE remote and I use MCE keyboard for things like context menu, info, binds for script execution, etc
