TrueHD HDMI Soundbar for XBMC

Hi all what are you recommendations, I dont have a massive budget?

What setups do you have?

I'd rather have the reciever built into the soundbar is that even possible (wife moans but too many wires )

Hi,
It's not TrueHD compatible but handles everything from Dolby Digital, DTS and AC3 - the YSP-30D and that range of products are great. It has 22 speakers, does 5.1 and has 2 x HDMI in and 1 x out to the HDTV.
I got mine on ebay for £180 when they retail for £500+. Sounds great too when you crank it up.

Most will recommend you start with a receiver and 2.1 speakers if you're on a budget, just practice good wire management for wifey. That way you can add speakers as the budget allows and you'll end up with something way better than a soundbar.

Having said that, I used a Yamaha YSP-800 for a while and thought it sounded great I haven't kept up on the specs of the new models though.

FYI, your room layout needs to meet some pretty strict geometry requirements to get a decent surround effect, and most soundbars really need to be paired with a sub.
