Hello, hope you can help me.. It is the 2nd day with xbmc live.. Dual boot with win7. (win7 is working fine..) Earlier today xbmc were running smooth.

When I try to start xbmc live up the xbmc logo screen is on (with the small circles in the bottom, but then the screen is black.... Or it seems like the hdmi signal is turning on/of all the time..

Then after some time the terminal login screen comes up:

Then I can login, doing a apt-get update etc without problems..

If I then try to start “startx” it cant start, and this is some of the stuff that comes on the screen:

Xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

When I try xbmc [enter] I get this messege:

FEM.py: cannot connect to X server.

The screen is blinking all the time.

How can I fix it...

The computer setup:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640
Mobo: ASUS M4A87TD EVO
Gfx: Sapphire RADEON HD 5670

I know its not much help but did you do an upgrade (apt-get upgrade) by any chance? I done it on my machine and had a similar issue, I hadn't got much on it so I just rebuilt it. Might be the easiest thing to do if its a fresh install, alternatively you could try reinstalling your video card drivers manually by following the guide here.

I am having the exact same problem with a new build. I am using the same CPU, Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 motherboard and gt430.

I'm using windows7 for the meantime, but I would love to get xbmclive working.

could be that there's no xorg.conf (or no proper one).
if not present please try:
sudo aticonfig --initial -f

XBMCLive has no native ATI support.
You need to install the ATI(fglrx) drivers. Take a look at the AMD Fusion/VAAPI thread in this forum
