Power on XBMC prolem...
#1
Hi guys,
I've just installed XBMC on my new Netbook (Asus 1015PN) with Ubuntu 11.04...
I can use the XBMC Remote from my Android (wow!) but... I don't understand how to make the "Power On" button works.
Can you please help me?

I use my Netbook with aMule tto but since sometimes I put it to sleep (suspend)... the Power On button simply launch XBMC app or can it resume my Netbook from suspend too?

Hello! The Power On button will only work if your NIC supports wake on lan. I am kind of doubtful that a Netbook would support this but it's possible. If it does support it, you will most likely have to manually enable it in your BIOS settings.

Even when you have it enabled it will only most likely not work unless your laptop is connected to an ethernet port, because you are sending the WOL packet to a specific MAC address. Even if you were to somehow implement wake on wireless lan, it would only be able to wake your computer from standby, not from being powered off like WOL via ethernet does. WOL is a feature that is more beneficial for media centers that are wired and not mobile.

Here's a link with more info..
