Would an upgrade from X2 4200+ to 6000+ fix 1080p playback?

I've searched a lot before I post this, but I could not find an answer to my specific question.

I had the following system:
- Asus M2N
- Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (overclocked to 2450MHz)
- ATI HD 3870 512MB
- 4GB DDR800
- Windows 7 64bit
- XBMC 10.1

My problem is that 1080p playback is choppy sometimes. The CPU load is 50-60% and VCPU is 90-100%. My questions is straight forward - if I buy a more powerful CPU (Athlon 64 X2 6000+, 3000-3100MHz) my 1080p playback issues will be fixed?

I'm asking this because this is the most powerful CPU I can put on this mobo. Budget wise, for now I can't make a mobo, cpu, ram upgrade.

PS. An option to install Linux on that system is not applicable in my case.

Thanks in advance...

To be honest i am amazed it does not do full 1080p as it is.
But before you go spending any money on upgrades i would give this a go http://openelec.tv/
It's similar to xbmc live and in my opinion a lot easier to use it's based on xbmc 10.1 dharma i believe. I tried it on my asrock and was really impressed with it.
XBMC Frodo 12 - Windows 7 - Asrock Ion 330HT - Aeon Nox

alternatively, if the CPU is not capable, why not just buy a slightly better GPU with DXVA support to decode everything. Should be the cheapest option for you.

This is my CPU: Benchmark: 514
This is your CPU: Benchmark: 1,154

I haven't met a 1080P video I couldn't play.
Code:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON `xbmc_%`.* TO 'xbmc'@'%';
IF you have a mysql problem, find one of the 4 dozen threads already open.

Thank you guys. I get the point. My ATI sux for video playback, even though it can still run new games in reasonably high resolutions.

So for this hardware setup what is the budget friendly Nvidia, DXVA friendly video card? In other words, with which Nvidia model I will not get any frame drops in 1080p playback?

Again, thanks for you feedback. Great community...

If you just want to use XBMC then the NVIDIA G210 is a good entry level card, and it's available in fanless (i.e. silent) form. There are usually lots around on ebay.
