question about half sbs mkv and 3D tv
#1
Lets say i have xbmc running on first generation ION, a 3D tv and a half-sbs mkv file. Will it work together to produce 3D material on my TV?
if not, is it because of my ION card does not support 3D? or some thing else?

thanks a lot

I pretty sure as well as your ion system not supporting 3d, XBMC itself does not support 3D. Though i'm not sure. I was curious and found this thread:

Might interest you if you haven't seen it.

and also a more direct thread:

Hi, I have an acer revo and have no problems playing half sbs files. I just have a button mapped to my logitech remote to put my tv into the correct mode

Just chiming in here to say that sbs mkvs work with XBMC. XBMC doesn't have
to do anything for this, the work is done by the TV. The only downside is that
I have to manually set my TV (pana vt20) to the right mode, after that it just
works.

SBS works because XBMC only sends one 1080p 24p containing both eye frames in one single signal to the TV, which does the splitting and stretching, "real" 3D (sequential, what you find on original 3D Blu Ray disks) doesn`t.
