no sound in xbmc?
#1
So I am building a new HTPC right now and using my main computer to test software for it. Let me say XBMC is amazing! It looks great and is really everything I would want for my new HTPC. However some of the videos on my hard drive play with no sound in it. In the VLC player they work fine. Is this a common problem? I am using windows 7 and my movie files are mostly mp4 with some avi and a few mkv. Also here is my HTPC build

biostar A880G+ motherboard
Amd athlon II x2 255 regor
4gb of gskill ddr3 1333 ram
corsair nova 32gb ssd for os and xbmc

how will this build run xbmc?

Debug log from xbmc and mediainfo about files with no sound are required to help you with your problem

sorry the media file that it happens with is a 2.68gb mp4 file which plays fine in vlc player, not sure what other info you need about that. The sound kind of stutters in and out at the beginning before stopping.

and the debug log is here http://pastebin.com/6CR1YqhA

Any other info needed? Thanks for any help I would really like to use XBMC

By mediainfo, I meant the app that tells you everything about the video.

http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en

Paste the result in another pastebin like you did before.

Sorry for not being clear the first time, welcome to XBMC!

Oh and I took a quick look at the debug log.

It has a lot of these:
Code:
CDVDPlayerAudio:: Discontinuity

I'm not a dev or very coding literate but a forum search yielded this thread:

(doesn't look that hopeful by the sounds of the thread)
