I'm guessing this has been asked before, but im new to the whole media sharing and im having issues.
i have XBMC on my desktop and all my media is on a 2tb hdd. not i have just gotten a laptop and want to access these files through it so i can watch them in another room while my desktop is on.
i've google the question in as many different ways and come to no avail.

ive never networked or media shared over a network and yes i know i'm a noob. any directions to guides or help would be greatly appreciated as i love this software.

try searching for the answer, chances are if you word it correctly in google it will lead back here to the information you need. file sharing would be a good place to start
