I've genuinely searched and searched - I must be missing something obvious. I went to the help and searched for trailers...I can see a lot of information - but not this:

How do I actually play the trailer? I've enabled trailer buttons, and I can see my films have linked trailers...but I'm not sure how to play them?

Press "i" on your keyboard then select trailer from the movie information screen this should work with all skins, some skins allow you to run trailers without going to movie info but this will differ between skins and between views
