Why no native HD Audio Support?
#1
Ok I had heard that Boxee which I have used previously came out with HD Audio support. So I fired it up the other day to see if it would work and of the 10 movies I tried all worked perfectly bitstreaming DD-TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio to my receiver via my ATI 5770 over HDMI. Why doesn't XBMC have this capability yet? Its not a deal breaker at all but it would be a killer feature.

Thanks, but both of those links appear to be IOS oriented/exclusive, and Boxee works with HD audio now.....I thought they shared much of the same code no? I'm not sure what player Boxee uses, but maybe there is a way to use that player in XBMC?

No what he's referring you to is the Audio Engine thread. HD Audio is currently being developed for xbmc. Want it now - then you'll have to set-up an external player (mpc-hc, vlc or similar)
