padfoot Wrote:@ josejuan.montie - sorry, I am not familiar with Gentoo and emerge. Perhaps asking in the Gentoo forums may give results on how to find your installed version and how to downgrade.

No problem, i'll search how...

padfoot Wrote:Ok,confirmed.

It is a conflict with Xbmc and libgl-7.10.3
Everyone who has downgraded to libgl-7.10.2 no longer experiences lockups.

Hopefully libgl-7.11.0 will resolve the issue (currently in release candidate so it should not be long before we can test it).

I understand libgl is an implementation of OpenGL 2.1.... i think that

localhost ~ # emerge --search mesa
* media-libs/mesa
Latest version available: 7.10.3
Latest version installed: 7.10.3
Size of files: 5,920 kB
Homepage: http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net/
Description: OpenGL-like graphic library for Linux

acording number version it "gentoo used" implementation of OpenGL... i'll try to downgrade media-libs/mesa to 7.10.2

Thanks.

I am running Fedora 15 x86_64, and the only "libgl" package I have installed is for mesa-libGL-7.11.0. And this version has the bug in it. Can't downgrade to 7-10.x either.

Hope this helps.

@Floriannnnn

Looking at the Openelec website http://www.openelec.tv/installation/updating there isn't a package manager in the system, so I'm guessing, unless you compiled from source, it is all precompiled binary packages.

Your best bet would be to point out the issue to the Openelec devs, and maybe they will downgrade the package until a resolution is found.

Alternatively, you could download the source and replace the packages in there before building. Of course, this is not as simple as it sounds. Makefiles would have to be changed to account for the version difference.

Cheers.

UPDATE

Refer to mesa bug report at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39219

Have just compiled and tested a patched version of libgl-7.10.3.

Xbmc 10.1 now exits cleanly.

The patch is available on the bug report for those who do not wish to wait, but otherwise, just waiting on the mesa dev's response / fix.

Cheers.

Thanks for catching this. Downgrade to 7.10.2 on Opensuse fixed this problem for me.

I had the same problem (on Arch also) but now I use this command in .xinitrc:

exec /usr/bin/xbmc --standalone -fs

and it is OK now.

Additional info: I'm using mingetty to auto-login and stay on console for 24/7. If I want to play movie I just type "startx" on console.

I too am having a "system hang" issue, but I am running the Windows version (XP).

Can you tell me how I can go about making the necessary changes for the Windows version?

Thank you.

Good news, a modified patch for libgl has been tested and confirmed. The Mesa devs will push this patch into the tree, so hopefully you will be seeing an update in your package manager soon.

Cheers.

@psmurf
Sorry, I really do not know what the issue could be in the windows version. It would probably be something completely unrelated to the Linux issue. Your best option would be posting in the windows forum.

This still hangs for me, even with libgl sorted. I use OpenELEC and sraue has updated this. But before it hanged at python, now i grabbed the log while it was hanging and nothing changed. It hang on the same line for a minute and a half before it shut down. No

UPDATE

Mesa bug has been closed and a fix pushed into both the 7.10 and 7.11 branches (this just missed the libgl 7.11rc2 release Arch has in testing).

So the fix should be released in the next mesa release (either 7.10 bugfix update 7.10.4 or release of 7.11)

Of course, you can get ahead of the game and compile the source from git if you like http://www.mesa3d.org/

Cheers.
