Since updating to 10.6.8 anytime I try to play a avi file, there's no sound. x264 files work fine. Mp3's also don't work. I'm using the stable version of XBMC on a 3rd Mac Mini. Thanks for the help.

Same trouble for me, if i play an HD movie (720 or 1080p), there is no problem but if i try to play a Divx/Xvid just after that, there is no more sound, even if i quit XBMC...If my mac mini goes to sleep or reboot, it work again...weird...please help...

hello all,

I m new in the mac world. Just bought the mac mini. And of course snow leopard and 10.6.8 has sound problem, not loosing it, but for my ampli (harman kardon) didn t allow me anymore to switch to DD, DTS, and so on.

I just installed PLEX, but remove it just after but I really love XBMC. But I don t know why, since this I can manage all my ampli, the sound is perfect and no more problem.

So I don t what s in PLEX, but it solved my problem. I removed it just after and xbmc is working perfectly right now. Just a problem when exiting it. It freeze so I have to force kill it.

Seems there is an update from apple to fix the sound problems with 10.6.8.

For users already running 10.6.8:

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Supplemental Update

Or just to a Software Update via the finder.
