Library not updating TV show
#1
I have added a new episode to an existing TV series, but it is not displaying in the list of episodes when in Library mode. However, I can see it when not in Library mode. I have tried re-scanning, cleaning and updating the library without success.

I have a hunch that the problem may be related to me moving my video files to a new source.

Initially my video files were located on a network share, this morning I copied them to a local drive on my XBMC PC and then added that source as my TV Series source. I then removed the network share source as I no longer need to access it now that the files are stored locally.

Everything else is fine with my library it's just that new episode that I added later in the day that is now displaying in Library Mode.

Is there something I have done incorrectly to mess up the library?

Should I delete the library and start again? If so, how is it done?

Thanks in advance.

When flipping destinations... a lot of us forget to 'Set Content' for the type of scraper and parms, my bet is that it's trying to scrape it improperly.

Before you do anything drastic.... Get file mode up and the episode in question in focus... hit the 'C' keyboard command to bring up the menu and toggle episode information.. if there's nothing hit refresh and see if the information comes.

Can confirm that the scraper settings are correct.

I have added a whole new TV series and it was added to the library as expected with all the required details, but the troublesome file refuses to get added to the library at all.

I did as suggested and looked at the episode details from File Mode and there were no details associated with that episode even after doing a Refresh. The episode is very new, only went to air a few days ago, so I wonder if that is affecting it? I can understand that there could be meta info missing from the library in this case, but the episode does not even appear in the library.

Any further suggestions?

I think you have answered your own question...

I suggest you toddle over to TVDB and check to see if you can find the show... (might have a slightly different name) and episode, if you can't; offer assistance to get it into their library... It's a user based library.

Still having problems with this series. Since my first post, several new episodes have aired and subsequently copied to my XBMC machine, but none of these are being added to my library. The TVDB website has details for the episodes, but when I look up Episode Information from within XBMC I get nothing.

Just to give some context, the TV series is Top Gear and I am trying to add details for Season 17.

I cleared my library by selecting 'None' as the scraper and then selected 'TVDB' to force XBMC to rescrape all of my TV shows. Everything was fine EXCEPT for Season 17. While previously, Episode 1 was added to the library (and two others missing), now none of the episodes from Season 17 are being added.

Is there another way to completely nuke my library and start fresh? Or is there simply a way of doing further checks to see why this season is not being added?

Naming and folder problems perhaps...

Should go like:

TV main folder :

Top Gear>

folder:

>Season 17>

episode

>s17e01.TopGear.avi
>s17e02.TopGear.avi

reference my first message, use file mode to preform a refresh scrape from the 'information' menu, then check to see if the episodes in question have scanned. Be aware that spurious and odd files in the same folder can play havoc with the results.

I had a weird bug similar to this problem. The 6th Season of Futurama would not scan into the library after I reformatted my HTPC. Before I reformatted, it worked fine. Well, come to find out I set the TVDB scraper to use the DVD order. I added the season 6 folder of Futurama as a seperate source with the TVDB scraper set to use aired order, and the episodes successfully scraped into my library. I am guessing that because season 6 of Futurama doesn't have a DVD out yet, the episodes wouldn't scrape. But that setting works fine for several other new shows that don't have DVDs out yet...so I'm not really sure what is happening. Maybe check that setting.

Check your scrapper settings and see if you have the setting "exclude from libray updates" checked. That may be your problem

My files are named as per all other files in my library (I use TV Rename to provide the file names) , for example:
Top Gear - S17E02 - Hot Hatchbacks In Italy

I clicked 'Episode Information' from the context menu in file mode and it provided no information about the episode. Curiously, the Information page showed that it was possibly trying to get a rating from IMDB. Anyway, I have checked that the scraper for TV Series is TVDB. Other Top Gear episodes in other seasons show the correct information, and performing a refresh still provides the correct information.

There are no other strange files in the folder.

Nice suggestion. I checked that setting, but alas my scaper is not set to DVD order, so that didn't help. Thanks anyway.

Another good suggestion. I dont have that setting applied, so that didn't help either. Thanks anyway.

As requested, here is my log (I have cut out some lines and spread it out over a number of posts). I hope someone can decifer it and find a reason why Season 17 of Top Gear is not being added to my library.
