Help with remote control and mapping
#1
Hi, I have a (I think) an MCE compatible remote control from König. This one, http://www.metroman.hu/kepek/3621_CMP-ME...20%20I.JPG . The instruction say model CMP-MEDIAREM12.

In XMBC, men a dialog popup say some info without any OK button. Hope anyone understand what dialog I mean here, but when such comes up. I have to stick in an keyboard and press ESC, no button on the remote can remove the dialog. Is there an fix for that?

Also I have the powerbutton on the remote, it seems to be bind to close the application. Can I set it to make the computer sleep/hibernate instead?

Would be great to bind a button for INFO too. Smile

What exactly is popping up that you cannot get rid of? Context Menu?

I had many issues setting up my Harmony remote.

The best tool i found was showkey.exe. Run it, and when you press a button on the remote, the program will show how it was interpreted by your PC, and in a format that you can copy into remote.xml or keyboard.xml

In those .sml files, you can change what buttons close any sort of pop-up info, like the context menu, Info, etc..

Maybe I should've answered after i got some sleep. Looking back, that seems a bit jumbled.

ShowKey is available from http://xbmcmce.sourceforge.net/, and there's also an applet called KeyMapEdit to make it easier to map button presses to XBMC actions.

See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi..._with_XBMC for notes on using remotes with XBMC. You need to work out if your remote is an eHome remote or if it's one that sends Media Center keypresses. The article http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows describes how to check if your remote is using the eHome driver.

Later: from some Googling I think your remote is RF not IR, in which case it is almost certainly sending Media Center keypresses. The Showkey app will confirm this.

From the XBMC wiki... (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Key...te_Section)

XBMC can be put in a test mode to display the code number read when you press a button on your remote by setting <displayremotecodes> to true in advancedsettings.xml.

Alternatively, remote keys are found in xbmc.log file (~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log on Linux) when debugging is enabled in the GUI (Settings -> debugging )

Sadly this only applies to the old XBox version of XBMC. That bit of the Wiki needs updating.
