My first XBMC HTPC - will this work?
#1
Hi Guys,

I've been reading the forum for a while and I'm just about to order a Revo R3700 from ebuyer:

I'm going to use XBMC Live.

Is this box suitable?

Also, which remote should I use? I have a logitech that will ultimately get programmed but initially I guess I need a USD IR receiver.

I've seen this on ebuyer as well, will it work?

Thanks for your help,

Many remotes work and many don't work out. I went with the HP IR receiver that is well known to work in both windows and linux. See the link in my signature for the appropriate model number. I decided to get the package with included remote just so I would have something working out of the box while I figure the Harmony programming out.

HP IR Receiver HP Media Center Remote Control USB Receiver for Windows Emitter/transmitter/receiver/transceiver USB device (HP P/N: 5188-1667), IR Remote Control (HP P/N: 5069-8344 ), HP bundle P/N: 5187-4592

Thanks for the reply. I've ordered the Speedlink anyway, it's ony £15 so if it doesn't work I'll get the HP kit. I guess I can always program my Logitech Harmony as an MCE and use the USB IR that comes with the Speedlink though?

Also is the R3700 OK? Although a bit late to ask as I just pressed "order", delivery on Monday, can't wait.......

From what I have read on these IR receivers there are differing types. It will depend on what type it actually is.

I didn't end up going with the smaller form factor build so I simply don't know. Others here will though!
