HTPC for parents
#1
Hey guys,

my father is quite tech-savvy and recently saw my Shutle XS35GT running XBMCLive. Whereas I bought him an ATV2 and he was quite happy with it, my father decided he wanted something that's a bit faster and snappier just like my own HTPC.

He doesn't want to spend too much money on it. It should be able to play 1080p, be (very) silent and render aeon mq2 decently. I want to install XBMC live on it.
A small SSD would be really appreciated. 16 GB is more than enough as he stores the movies on a network harddisk.

Where can i get the best bang for the buck at the moment? I would really prefer not to build the HTPC myself, but if the price is alright I think that's an OK option.

(I'm in Europe, so hardware choice might be quite different).

Thanks in advance,
p1lot

why not go for OpenELEC version of XBMC?? --> http://ow.ly/1uuHo9

its meant to be run'ed form a USB Flash Drive or even a Memory Card!!

Its super fast!!

takes like 10 to 15 seconds to boot from cold!!

and you could then decide if u want to build the HTPC yourself or not...

but if u do, this could do the trick --> Here

try to find those parts in Europe Smile
