DD-WRT Router USB Hard Drive and FTP share
#1
I have a e4200 router using build 17201 of dd-wrt. I have a 2 tb mybook fat32 HD connected to it. I can connect using smb to the hard drive in xbmc but I cant connect using FTP. I wanted to try and use FTP because of the buffering I often receive in SMB. Here are some of the setups I have tried:

ftp://root:[email protected]:21/
ftp://[email protected]:21/
ftp://192.168.1.1:21/

Sadly all of these say no media found. I am not sure if I am missing something on the router or on XBMC.

I can connect to the router using cyberduck or "connect to server" on my osx.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work would be greatly appreciated.

I have searched the best I can to make sure this question was not listed, but I did not find it so please forgive me if it is asked.

this seems to be a ddwrt specific issue but ill chime in anyway.

im not entirely familiar with using usb drives on ddwrt routers, but odds are those programs are using SFTP (totally different from FTP).

you'll likely need to enable FTP.

from my experience, buffering with ftp is far longer than with samba shares.
