Improving SMB performance
#1
Hi Guys,

Like a lot of people I get issues with 1080p content Buffering for SMB over wireless, which we understand is due to SMB performance.

I've read various posts regarding this here and I've been looking at possible solutions.

One thing I have come across is ACK delay that has plagued various Broadcom devices and OS's. I found a possible solution by adding socket options into the smb.conf file, which is located /private/var/mobile/.smb/. However whenever I add these options and run XBMC the new lines get removed from the smb.conf file.

It appears that XBMC is removing these options? Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm only testing/experimenting, but these are the socket options:

socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY

I also want to test:

SO_KEEPALIVE SO_RCVBUF=262144 SO_SNDBUF=262144

Thanks,
