I enabled media keys via advancedsettings.xml but the issue is the keys do not work if XBMC is minimized. My keyboard is a mx500.

Is there any fix available for this? I had a good look through the forums but wasn't able to find anything.

Unless you're using a nightly build, the advancedsettings.xml setting for the multimedia keys won't do anything. v10.1 doesn't recognise it.

XBMC has to have the focus for it to receive keypresses. If it's minimised it doesn't have the focus and will never receive the keypresses. If you want to be able to control XBMC even when it's minimised you'll need to use some helper software like Eventghost.
