out of curiosity does it play ok at 50 cause it should really...

My TV does not support 50 Hz so all I get is a black screen with "This Mode Is Not Supported" Sad

However, I can set the refresh rate at 24 Hz and it works! I have no idea why it doesn't with 60 Hz, though my TV supports it fine.

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.

apparently it does...

I dont know where the equivalent to /var/lo/xorg0.log in windows is or if there is even one.... but that would tells you what your tv definitely supports, you log sure spits it out if its valid or not idk.

Interesting, maybe these are just settings possible on the graphics card? (ATI 5450). I know if I try to set my TV to 50 Hz at 1080p, it says not supported. Even so, why doesn't it override simply for 60 Hz?

I have no idea why it's not using the override, the advancedsettings.xml file looks ok.

@bobo1on1

Do you have any idea why an override of 24 Hz works, but 60 Hz does not?

goto /var/log/Xorg.0.log

and pastebin whole contents of Xorg.0.log

that will tell you which modes are validated, if this goes on perhaps you have to configure the nvidis driver properly

cheers

Not really no, I'll check the code when I have time for it.

I ran into the same issue a while ago, 24Hz works.. 60 does not.
