Volume Control doesn't work
#1
Hello,
I've installed XBMC on Win7 Prof. and configured it to start as a shell (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...a_shell%29).

Everything works fine, except for the volume control neither by using the volume buttons on the keyboard, nor by using the buttons on my remote.

The volume control works, if I boot Windows with Explorer and start XBMC manually. So what's wrong and what can I do?

Sorry for the bad English and thanks for helping.

The volume buttons on the remote and keyboard are probably sending APPCOMMAND messages and XBMC does not process these. Instead it passes them on to Windows so they control the system volume rather than XBMC volume. I'd guess that Explorer must play some part in changing the system volume, so the volume buttons don't work when Explorer isn't running.

The easy fix is to run XBMC from the Start menu instead of making it the shell. Alternatively use a remote that can be configured to send + and - keystrokes when you press the volume buttons. If your receiver uses the eHome driver your current remote can do this. See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows for the details.
