I'm looking at getting this board for my soon-to-be-built HTPC.

>ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

>$117.00

I decided to go the AMD router to save on cost, and I don't have very high reqs for the system. Just XBMC (1080p, no bitstreaming HD audio since XBMC doesn't even support now) and some old-school emulators.

u really need a $117 micro-atx mobo?

this AMD combination would be perfect for you:
[mobo] GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P AM3+ μATX ($65 + $0)
[cpu] AMD Athlon X2 3.0GHz Dual-Core AM3 65W ($60 + $0)

or on INTEL's side:
[mobo] MSI H61M-E33 (B3) LGA-1155 μATX ($70 + $0)
[cpu] Intel Pentium G620 2.6GHz LGA-1155 Dual-Core 65W ($70 + $0)

i have done a amd pc build with this board before and if i remember correctly i used a AMD Athlon X2 255

although you can use newer models like the 260 and 265

the other posters are right about that board that is a pretty basic board it doesnt really have anything other than the asus brand making it more expensive than a asrock msi or gigabyte board and seeing as it is just for a htpc i would suggest asrock not for any other reason than it offers pretty identical specs but you might find it cheaper besides asrock if basically a spinoff of asus but at a cheaper price if you dont like any of the asrock board check out and compare prices of other brands board with similar or identical specs
