xbox 360 controller... what am I doing wrong?
#1
Hi!

I've used xbmc for a long time on an xbox, but I'm switching to the windows version and unable to understand how to get my wireless 360 controller to work with it.

From reading, I'm led to understand that the controller should be plug and play, with no modifications needed, since the keymap for the 360 is already there.

What am I missing? all the posts I've found only talk about a keymap file, and eventclient, which seems to be built-in?

Is there a plain english tutorial somewhere I could be pointed to to follow that's not 3 years old?

i have a xbox 360 plugin for winlirc, you could use it through event ghost. But i've not released it yet, it is finished though. Works really nicely, only problem is the wireless receiver tends to go to sleep after a while if you don't use it, which is a little annoying but not a deal breaker.
WinLIRC, the Windows port of LIRC (Linux Infrared Remote Control):

Hey man!

I solved the problem yesterday Nerd.

There are 2 crucial moments to remember:
1. save the Keymap file under the name Keymap.xml with a capital K!
2. find out unter what name the XBMC recognizes your controller. You can find it in the log file (look for log in the XBMC directory). My for example was named "Controller (XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver)". You have to use exactly the same name in the Keymap.xml

I am now having a problem the the controller is hooked, but the buttons do not work as they should. Maybe the deadzone adjusting can help it.
