If I am playing a random song...is there any way to (easily) play and/or view other songs from the same album or artist?

I like your thinking. That would be a great feature but I can't think of a way that XBMC could do it (easily).
Possibly you could set up a smart playlist that takes an argument from the nowplaying current artist (or whatever it is called) and then modify the skin to have a button to display that smart playlist? No idea if this would be possible though and its a bit beyond my abilities to investigate.
