This was opening xbmc, playing 2 videos and closing.

It seems that the fps is OK now, i'm not sure why. The only thing I can think is I rebooted and perhaps some settings I changed in catalyst had an affect after, the most suspect one perhaps being "enforce smooth playback which maybe forces a higher fps.

So now I just have black bars to the sides. I also get some dropped frames.

Thanks for any help... Would be good to know someone elses XBMC and catalyst settings who has no issues!

I think I have cracked it! Hope this helps someone else here.

I noticed that when the video re-sizes it is the exact same time the display changes refresh, and not only is the video resized but when you go to the audio/video options during playback everything is reduced.

So I tried changing fps on the desktop to 24hz, 50hz etc and found the same. It seems the ATI overscan setting is per display setting, or at least per refresh rate. So I went through them one by one and set all to overscan 0% and hey presto video is no longer with black bars!

Now the other problems. Should I expect to see dropped frames still with a 5450? It seems they get up to 17 or so right at the beginning of the film but don't increase after, although I have yet to watch a whole film.

did you try to set display mode in xbmc setting to full screen #1 instead of windows? you need to use the same screen resolution that you selected in catalyst control.

Yes I have it set to full screen not window.

I also have an issue where if the tv is turned off XBMC locks up! I leave it on all the time so that isnt ideal when you come to it the next day.

Hello i have a asrock e350m1 with Integrated AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics

and it seems some of the new builds dont run well for me to when i do seeking backwards in movies it freez and i cant use xbmc need to restart it to run again.
