im looking for a way to view my security cams over LAN on my XBMC machine.
they are viewed in a program called d9 viewer.
is there a way to have this d9 viewer load in some way onto xbmc so i can access it there?

i am clueless when it comes to this stuff -lol.

here is a video of the d9 viewer in action if your not familiar with it.

I'm no expert, but I'd say it is possible. At the simplest, you could script something up where you load the d9 viewer from xbmc..., when you close d9 viewer, you're back in xbmc. Kind of similar to the way external media players are used.

A little more complicated script would be required to embed the d9 stream(s) in xbmc.

Again, I'm no expert... just how I think it would/could be done.

Use the Launcher add-on to launch the D9 Viewer.

There might be a live stream being broadcast over http - depends on your server software (I know ZoneMinder has this).

Can you view a live stream from a web browser only (not using the D9 Viewer program)?

yes you can view live online but it uses the d9 viewer with active x online (built in).

You need to create a stand alone launcher. Then you will be asked to select the application to start... so... select the D9 executable file. Additional help : http://www.gwenael.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=4#p4.

From the Home page select programs then Launcher. You should see a choice of Standalone or File Launcher. Choose Standalone. Browse to the D9 executable and select it. You'll be prompted to supply optional arguments and a title.

There is an, erm, feature of the Browse dialog that if you have a CD in the drive it won't show anything. Make sure all optical drives are empty before opening the add-on.

If you're not sure what executble D9 uses, right click the D9 icon and on the shortcut menu choose Properties. In the Properties dialog look in the Target field.
