Left to go on holiday with my Apple TV 2 working perfectly with nightly update. Returning from holiday I turned it on the apple logo shows for 8 seconds - then the tv states that nothing is connected. Tried hard reboot etc - nothing happening!

Just seems so odd as I had it setup perfectly with no issues.

Any ideas or do I have reinstall?

Have you changed any network settings, like the name of your router? When I updated my router I gave it a new ID and the ATV would boot, then go to black screen. As soon as I renamed my router access ID, everything came right back.

Seems like it won't output if not connected to the 'net.

Are you able to ssh into it to look at the log files? Their locations are mentioned here in case you need them:
