Problems with HD Playback
#1
I have been running xbmc 10.1 for the last four months on my htpc without a problem. Two days ago I found I had an issue with playback on .mkv files. The sound would play normally but the picture would be very blocky and slip a lot, certainly it was unwatchable. After checking I noticed this problem also occured with HD quality .mp4 and .m2ts files but not with any .avi files. Some would playback blocky and some would crash xbmc. All the files play fine using VLC.

Whilst trying to initially fix this problem I also developed a bigger problem with my graphics driver and the display. Eventually I resolved that problem as it was a conflict with the latest Intel HD Graphics driver and my Asus motherboard. The problem was fixed by reverting to an older driver. However the playback issue still continues.

The debug log for the poor playback is here:

The debug log for the crash is here:

I am running xbmc 10.1 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Service Pack One
with an Intel Core i5 CPU 3.1Ghz
8GB Memory
I have an on board graphics card on my Asus H67 motherboard

Apologies if something similar has been posted, I did a search but couldnt find anything.

Thanks in advance for any help

In System settings, Video, Playback try changing the "enable hardware acceleration" setting. The hardware acceleration has been reported to cause problems with Intel video chipsets.

Thank you very much, turning the hardware acceleration off seems to have fixed the problem
