Hi all . . .
I'm for some advice on getting OTA tv into XBMC. Is this possible? Do I need a cablecard? Antenna? Tuner of some sort? Can someone point out the differences between these devices and make a quick recommendation? Hauppauge seems to be the name in this game, but I don't know what I need.
I am running Windows 7 on Maui (exact rig).
I am cutting the cord from the cablebox, so I will have ZERO cable signal coming in. So I'm looking to get simply OTA (ATSC?) signal to the HTPC.
I'm assuming that -- since I will not have a cable signal -- I cannot use something like HDHomeRun ?
Do I need mythtv or mediaportal?? If so, can I run this on the same box as my XBMC?
I'm guessing that I will not be able to receive QAM without cable company's signal . . . correct assumption? Or will I be able to receive ClearQAM? Is ClearQAM available OTA?
Could anyone give me some advice to this end? Is there additional configuration required other than simply installing the device?
Is there recording available?
