Trailers won't play anymore
#1
For the last few weeks I am unable to get any of my trailers to play. For months the trailers played perfectly in a window or full screen mode. Most of my movies have trailers. Then about three weeks ago I got an error when trying to play the trailer for a new movie I had scraped. I thought it was just something about this particular movie. Later on I decided to look at some of my other trailers and not I was getting an error on all of them.

When I try to play a trailer in a window or full screen I get a dialog box titled "VCD Mount" and inside the box is the big red "X" with the following information:
Can't mount
http://www.totaleclips.com/Player/Bounce...2&type=flv!

This is an example when trying to play Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon trailer. The errors only differ in that the eclipid, birateid, vendroid, and the type information change because it is specific to each movie.

I have spent countless hours researching this on the internet and this forum but have not found anything on point that resolves the issue.

I am using Dharma 10.1 and media companion to do the initial scraping. I also use Virtual Clone Drive and Total Media Theater tp play movies. After I clear the erro box, Total Media Theater opens to a blank screen. As far as I can remember the trailers always played before without using TMT. I thought it was a problem with media companion but have found nothing on their forum either. Also if I scrape the movie in XBMC and ignore the locally stored information from media companion, the trailer still will not play and results in a similar error. The only difference is the http address changes to yahoo or some other location.

Can anyone help?

Assuming that:

Code:
http://www.totaleclips.com/Player/Bounce.aspx?eclipid=h11003&bitrateid=308&vendroid=102&type=flv

is the URL for the trailer, the trailer is no longer available. If I try to open the link using curl I get:

Code:
D:\temp>curl -D con "http://www.totaleclips.com/Player/Bounce.aspx?eclipid=h11003&bitrateid=308&vendroid=102&type=flv"

Unfortunately my problems are bigger than that. It doesn't matter what URL it tries to load I get an error. For example here is one that is a good URL that will play when you directly pull up the web page:

http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.d...d=37382528!

However I get the same VCD mount error. It seems that for some reason every trailer URL is trying to load these files using my virtual clone drive which it shouldn't be. Only started having this problem recently. Don't know whats causing the change.

I couldn't load the file directly from the above short cut. The forum abbreviates the link so I'm trying again here:

http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.d...d=37382528!

This is the trailer for Becoming Jane. It opens a Wiindows Media File and plays correctly when I click this link from a Word file.

So your using an external player ? because the obvious thing to do would be removing your playercorefactory.xml and see if trailers then play

I'm not sure what's going on but that second URL you provided worked in XBMC for me a couple of times and then refused to play there after ?

Code:
http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?sdm=web&pt=rd&sid=37382528

doesn't play here. The first time I tried it I got a couple of seconds playback. Thereafter it refused to play at all.

OK my fault it wasn't working in XBMC as I was using the full URL after the referral which can be one of two URLS one not so reliable, what a tool its a habit from downloading trailers Rolleyes

Using just the referral jhsrennie posted it seems to work fine in XBMC for me I wouldn't say its 100% reliable though

I know now why I prefer local trailers always reliable and never disappear
