Is this possible if building with a particular Case / Motherboard option?

I see some of the motherboards have bluetooth built in..but not sure if this can be used to boot the machine.....

nope, it cant,,,

i bought a HTPC case (check in my signature) that came built-in with an LCD Screen
which is also an IR receiver,,,
So using the remote that came also with the case,
i can PowerON/OFF my HTPC completely,,,

it seems like a 'Most Wanted' feature in an HTPC but im not sure why,,,
Specially since you can simply make the HTPC sleep and wake it up when needed,,,,

But if you really really want that feature,
have a look here --> Switch your PC on/off with your existing IR remote!

i've never used it or anything but i know it works as a user here bought it,,,,

when building my htpc i also wanted this feature.
i ended up buying this: Antec Multimedia IR Receiver

easy to install and small.
comes with crap software and crap remote.
so i taught my logitech remote the on/off button
and presto! works like a charm and saves me the walk

hope this is what you were looking for.

p.s. i should add that i only use it for the on/off feature only. for all my other needs i use the HP receiver

Having my htpc sleep and wake seems to fit my needs pretty well.
