i am using an intel d525 dualcore atom with integrated ion2 graphics on the mitx motherboard. The ion2 support VDPAU which is great. Iam using xbmc live installed on a 30 gb ssd. all my cd's and dvd's are on a server but could also be on a seperate big hdd, even usb is no problem. So far ( using it about 2 years) i have had no problem with any video formats and all plays beautiful in HD.
The setup ( similar to a asus S1-AT5NM10E for inst.) has a external laptop psu of 45 watts which is sufficient for the rig.

Outside of performance reasons, I wouldn't buy anything with a fan (nor with a HDD, but they can at least spin down) for 24/7 bedroom use, and I believe the ID41 has a fan (although I can't find any pictures of the interior).
