help me get my MCE remote working
#1
Hello
Im trying to configure my regular mce remote with usb ir with xbmc under w7.
But i cannot get it running...

I tried eventghost, and it reacts to remotepresses, but xbmc does not do anything.
I tried the mce remote addon, no reaction there either.

In eventghost, first i added the mce plugin, then the xbmc2 plugin,
configured it with localhost and port 80, activated http, control et c in xbmc.

with the mce remote addon i "active current settings" and reboot.

Dont get it? What did i miss? :S

Im not a windows guy... had only messed with this things in ubuntu

I followed the instructions in this thread

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=78179

Worked first time. No need for EventGhost or MCE Remote addon. You need an eHome IR receiver for it to work though.

This method makes changes to the registry and installs a new keyboard.xml, I believe. Search here for showkey.exe to find what command is seen when the green button is pressed and then you'd need to change the registry to change the action.

Make sure you back up the registry before you make any changes.

What remote are you using? Is there a manufacturer's name and model number on it? Is it one of the remotes described in http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Control_Reviews.
