Hello, I'm a noob to xbmc and this forum, but I saw what xbmc looked like and, well, wanted it. I tend not to do too much media viewing on my PC and wanted to be able to dispay everything on my big screen for the family to enjoy.
After shopping around I got one of these eMachine ER1401s of ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280736317265?s...1439.l2649
I then tried several attempts to install openelec and XBMC live. All I could get was picture via HDMI and no sound. Spent about 48 hours scouring the web for a solution and the ones I found were too technical (linux novice).
I was tearing my hair out until I found this mentioned in a discussion forum
http://packages.pulse-eight.net/
So tried the generic version and it worked with sound first time (well I mean after changing the sound output to HDMI and rebooting).
Sorry if this is way out of place as I can see a lot of the stuff on here is very technical, but I thought if I stick it on here someone else might find it and save a bit of the time I wasted.
Cheers
